Le Roy Manufacturing Company
Berlin (now Kitchener), Ontario
Date: ca. 1903
Artifact no.: 1975.0215
The Le Roy was produced by the Le Roy Manufacturing Co., founded in 1899 by Nelson and Milton Good of Kitchener (then Berlin), Ontario.
The Canadian-made Le Roy was actually a close copy of the popular American Oldsmobile—note the curved dash. The Le Roy was the first gasoline-powered automobile to be manufactured in quantities for sale in Canada. At this time, electric and steam-powered cars were still more popular than cars with internal combustion engines. The Le Roy company remained in business until 1907.
