Want to view the night sky from the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory? Join us on the dates below as we open the doors and welcome stargazers. The program is free and strictly weather permitting (no indoor presentations). Dress warmly! Duration: 90 minutes

Celebrate International Astronomy Day At The Museum

Curious about the wonders of the heavens? The universe is yours to discover, so make it a family outing and come explore with us!
Daytime Activities (included with Museum admission)
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Enjoy activities for all ages that are out of this world! Explore the night sky in the inflatable planetarium, safely observe the Sun (weather permitting), visit the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory, or make your own planisphere to take home.
Free Star Party
8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Join us for a free star party! Enjoy views of the Moon, Saturn, and Mars through a variety of telescopes including Canada’s largest refracting telescope. The program is free and strictly weather permitting (no indoor presentations). Dress warmly.

Group Astronomy and Space Nights
Minimum 20 participants, $3 per person
Choose from two dynamic programs that can be adapted to your group’s age level and interests. Perfect for school groups, or Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Scouts, Pathfinders, and Venturers wishing to obtain their astronomy or space badges. Duration: 90 minutes
Astronomy
Learn cool things about the Solar System! Discover how stars are formed. Touch real meteorites, look through Canada’s largest refracting telescope (weather permitting) in the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory, or view the constellations in the Museum’s inflatable planetarium.
Canada in Space
Through a guided visit of the Canada in Space exhibition, see real satellites Alouette and Hermes, discover what it takes to become an astronaut, and explore Canada’s contribution to the International Space Station.

Family Astronomy And Space Workshops
Curious about space and astronomy? These hands-on workshops feature a new craft activity each month that encourages exploration of science and astronomy, complemented by either a guided tour of the heavens in the inflatable planetarium, a visit to the Canada in Space exhibition, or a visit to the Observatory (weather permitting). Duration: 90 minutes

Payment is required upon registration.
The Museum reserves the right to substitute workshops when registration is insufficient.
